Raw PPG access for partners
By Sameer Sontakey
Partner path to raw PPG: green, IR, and red waveforms, configurable 25/50/100 Hz sampling, API and mobile SDK export into your stack.
Quick answer: Sensor Bio raw PPG access is waveform-level green, infrared, and red amplitudes you enable per organization, sample at 25/50/100 Hz, and pull through export, REST, or mobile SDKs.
What raw PPG access means here
Raw PPG access means you can store the optical amplitudes themselves. Not only a heart-rate number. Not only a recovery score.
Partners use that for custom algorithms, quality review, and re-analysis after the first pass. Research workflows often ask for about 100 Hz when waveform detail matters. Sensor Bio lets the organization choose 25, 50, or 100 Hz (default 50 Hz). Match the rate to the protocol; do not default to the maximum without a reason.
What you get in the file
Raw sensor downloads (1-7 day window per request) include PPG as:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
ts | Nanosecond timestamp |
green | Raw green amplitude (AU), unfiltered |
ir | Raw infrared amplitude (AU), when enabled |
red | Raw red amplitude (AU), when enabled |
No filtering is applied in that raw package. On V2 hardware, published wavelength centers are green 530 nm, red 655 nm, and infrared 940 nm. Green is the default primary channel for heart rate and HRV style pipelines.
Accelerometer raw (x, y, z in m/s² with millisecond timestamps) is a separate enable when motion context matters for artifact review.
How to turn it on
- Set the organization sample rate (25, 50, or 100 Hz).
- Enable raw PPG for the profiles that need it. Defaults keep raw off in both Passive (awake) and Rest Mode (sleep).
- Confirm who holds Super Admin for downloads.
- Validate one short capture end-to-end before first enrollment: device → sync → file or API → your schema.
If you also need computed biometrics (HR, rMSSD, sleep stages, scores), those use the separate computed download path (1-30 day windows). Many partners store both.
Paths into your stack
REST API
Cloud-to-cloud integration uses the REST API at https://api.getsensr.io/v1/ with an API key authorization header. Use it for user management, metric retrieval, and organization administration patterns documented on developers.sensorbio.com. Treat that host as the live reference for endpoints and payloads.
Mobile SDK
Native BLE SDKs wrap the radio protocol for iOS (SPM) and Android (Kotlin Flow). On-device algorithm SDKs cover sleep staging, HRV, beat-to-beat intervals, and active minutes when you want processing beside the handset. Pick SDK vs pure cloud based on whether the phone is in your trust boundary.
Batch export
CSV and JSON downloads support partner and study ops workflows without writing a full connector on day one. Raw windows are 1-7 days per request. Concurrent download jobs are limited (3 per organization in current docs). Links expire and can be refreshed. Plan job orchestration accordingly.
Honest constraints
- Motion and perfusion still dominate wrist optical quality. Raw access does not remove artifact; it lets you see it.
- Power and storage fall as sample rate and raw channels rise. V2 comparison figures show roughly 7-day battery under default settings versus about 2 days under max recording settings. Budget participant charging time.
- Defaults favor lighter capture. Raw off and 50 Hz are intentional. Research partners opt in.
- Endpoint details move. This page states product facts from the Metrics Overview. Confirm field names and routes against developers.sensorbio.com before you freeze a connector.

Claims note
Sensor Bio V2 is a general wellness device, not FDA cleared for diagnosis. Raw PPG access supports research and product development. It does not imply diagnostic performance or RPM billing eligibility.
