Build for research

Wearables in clinical trials and research studies, on your own stack.

Sensor Bio gives research teams the band, the raw signal, the SDKs and APIs, and the dashboard to run continuous, decentralized data capture under the study's own name.

Quick answer

The short version

Wearables in clinical trials capture continuous sleep, heart rate, HRV and activity data from participants at home instead of only at site visits. Sensor Bio supplies a research-grade sensing band, raw green, red and infrared PPG, mobile SDKs, a REST API and a wear-time dashboard, so a study team can collect exploratory wellness data without building hardware.

Problems

The real problems, and how the stack solves each one

  • Site visits are snapshots

A few in-clinic measurements miss how sleep, activity and heart rate change day to day. Reviews of wearables in trials point to continuous, real-world measurement as the main gain.[1][2]

How Sensor Bio helpsThe band records continuously at home, and each participant's data lands in your API with timestamps you control.

  • Missing data and low wear time

Continuous data is only useful when people wear the device. Industry recommendations stress planning for adherence and data completeness up front.[3]

How Sensor Bio helpsNo screen and 5 to 7 days per charge keep the burden low, and the dashboard shows wear time per participant so coordinators can follow up early.

  • Black-box scores

Many consumer devices only export vendor scores, which makes methods hard to document and repeat.[1]

How Sensor Bio helpsRaw multi-wavelength PPG and accelerometer files let your analysts run and publish their own processing.

  • Documenting the data chain

Regulator guidance on digital health technologies asks sponsors to describe how data is captured, transferred and stored.[4]

How Sensor Bio helpsOne vendor owns the band, firmware settings, SDK and API, so the capture configuration is written down once per study.

Example build-out

What you could build

Concept: a study-branded CohortLine band next to a laptop showing wear-time bars
Concept Fictional brand on the Sensor Bio V2 band. Screen content is illustrative.

CohortLine: a branded decentralized study kit (Concept)

A sponsor ships a study-branded band to each participant. A small study app pairs it, syncs in the background and shows a daily wear reminder. The data team pulls raw PPG and daily summaries from the API into its own pipeline.

Sensor Bio pieces

How it works

From first call to live data

  1. Step 1

    Scope the protocol

Pick the signals, the capture rate and the wear schedule with our team.

  2. Step 2

    Configure and brand

We set sensor configuration per study and prepare branded bands and packaging.

  3. Step 3

    Integrate

Add the SDK to your study app or use the dashboard with no code at all.

  4. Step 4

    Run and export

Track wear time during the study and pull summaries and raw files through the API.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can Sensor Bio be used in clinical trials?

Research teams use Sensor Bio to capture exploratory wellness data such as sleep, activity, heart rate and HRV. Sensor Bio V2 is a general wellness device, not FDA cleared, so it is not intended for medical decisions in a study.

Do we get raw data or only scores?

Both. The REST API returns daily summaries and scores, and raw green, red and infrared PPG plus accelerometer files can be turned on per organization.

Can the bands carry our study branding?

Yes. Bands and packaging can be branded for your study or program, starting with Sensor Bio V2.

How do coordinators see who is wearing the band?

The Remote Monitoring Dashboard shows wear time and data completeness per participant, so the team can follow up without code.
